Tasting notes
The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru has a sweaty nose that lacks the clarity of its peers. This is another Gevrey where I wonder if there are some Brettanomyces. It's muddled. The palate is better, with slightly chewy tannins. This is a bit rustic for a Cazetiers with a savory alcoholic finish. I don't find this bottle representative. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Mid crimson. Very distinctive nose that smells as though the wine may have been aged in something other than oak! There's an inkiness on the palate and just a bit too much bitterness on the end for me. Perhaps this will dissipate with time in bottle? (JR)
The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers is brilliant, bursting from the glass with aromas of raspberries, plums, exotic spices and forest floor. Medium to full-bodied, seamless and multidimensional, it's velvety and layered, with lively acids, beautifully ripe tannins and a long, resonant finish. This is a benchmark Cazetiers from the only proprietor to own holdings that stretch from the top to the bottom of the slope.
