Tasting notes
The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny La Combe d'Orveau 1er Cru offers dark cherries and blackcurrant fruit, perhaps a touch of VA in the background that slightly blurs the edges. The palate has a strong marine influence, almost briny in a style that gets the saliva flowing. It's pretty peppery towards the finish, possibly due to stems, though, like Legros's Les Noirots, it just feels a bit rigid and unyielding at present. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny La Combe d'Orveau 1er Cru has a very attractive floral bouquet with rose petal and iris scents, a touch of oyster shell merging with the red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berries, a dash of white pepper and with a lively and supple, saline finish. Classic Chambolle-Musigny.
Cask sample. Bright mid-cherry hue, intensely floral with violets and iodine; old-vine concentration. (MH)
