Tasting notes
The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Vide-Bourses 1er Cru has a more powerful, slightly chalky bouquet. It has more mineralité and superb delineation than its peers. You can really lose yourself in these aromatics. The palate is beautifully balanced with a silver bead of acidity. Poised, tensile and surfeit with energy, this is a livewire Puligny/Chassagne hybrid that mines the best of the two appellations. Superb. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Vide Bourse is another highlight, wafting from the glass with aromas of citrus oil, white flowers, pear and frangipane. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, it's rich but tensile, its enveloping core of fruit girdled by racy acids and chalky structuring extract. It's the finest Vide Bourse I can remember tasting chez Colin.
The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Vides Bourses 1er Cru presents a complex nose of citrus fruit, popcorn and a touch of grilled walnut, all very well defined and terroir-expressive. The well-balanced palate delivers the same concentration and verve as the Les Champs Gain, and turns quite saline toward the finish, which lingers wonderfully. This is a class act, but try to resist temptation for the first 4–5 years.
