Tasting notes
Charles van Canneyt has 0.21 hectares of this desirable Premier Cru. It is singing in 2020 – gorgeously expressive, with all the prettiness of great Chambolle, combined with the luxuriousness of this site. The nose is littered with delicate florals – rose and violet pot pourri – with dainty berry fruit and a hint of white pepper. On the palate it’s incredibly pure, with incredibly fine, lace-textured tannins that only Pinot Noir can offer. Elusive, ethereal, this is beautiful red Burgundy.

There are four barrels of the brilliant 2020 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes, a striking wine that mingles aromas of raspberries and red cherries with hints of rose petal, peony and exotic spices in an inviting bouquet. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and concentrated, with lively acids and a long, mineral finish, this is very promising.
The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru has one of the most opulent aromatics from the Domaine with vivacious dark cherries, cassis and pressed violet scents that gain momentum with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with silky tannins, very harmonious, superb mineralité. "This is exactly the kind of Chambolle I imagine," remarked Charles van Canneyt - I can see what he means.
