Tasting Notes
The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Champonnets ler Cru is showing the stem addition on the nose at the moment, though that will all integrated with time. There is a lovely, subtle sea spray/oyster shell scent here that gains intensity with aeration. The palate is very well balanced with fine definition, taut and fresh, very harmonious with a gentle grip on the silky finish. This is another classically-styled Gevrey-Chambertin that should age with style.

Cask sample. Clean, fresh, lively. Fine tannins. Very precise, not so obviously premier cru with the first taste but the longer the wine spends in the glass, the more it evolves and shows its class. Long, lingering and fine.
100% whole bunch vinification. Deep purple black. This is immensely more powerful on the nose. Spicy dark fruit, but please note not cooked at all and retaining a fresh vigour on the palate. Dark raspberry, with correct tannins and good acidity, plus the hoped for persistence. Completely different in style to Goulots – probably just as good but my personal preference is for the additional finesse of Goulots. Concentrated wine for the longer term, very well made.
