Tasting notes
As is invariably the case, the 2020 Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru is the domaine's most fragrant and ethereal wine, bursting with notes of peonies, rose petals, cinnamon, sweet berries and cherries. Medium to full-bodied, ample and perfumed, with melting tannins and a succulent core of fruit, it's immensely seductive, concluding with a long, saline finish.

The 2020 Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru, which comprises of the usual "thimble" of 80-litres this year, has a beautifully defined bouquet with leafy red fruit (from the 100% whole bunch), rose petals, orange rind and Japanese nori aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins, again, very harmonious and poised with lip-smacking salinity on the finish. I think this will need time in bottle, so leave it several years if you can get your mitts on one.

About the producer

Domaine Duroché has, under Pierre Duroché, become one of the most sought-out and respected wine domaines in Gevrey-Chambertin. The wines are delicate and detailed, yet with old-vine intensity, a clear sense of place and style – and it’s easy to see why they’ve rapidly become so in-demand.
