The fireworks continue with the 2020 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru, a striking wine that unfurls in the glass with aromas of pomegranate and red cherries mingled with sweet spices, rose petals and blood orange. Full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, it's deep and concentrated, with lively acids, melting tannins and a long, perfumed finish.

The 2020 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru, matured in 50% new oak with 50% whole bunch from vines on the Terres blanches, has another hauntingly pure bouquet with crushed violets infusing the mélange of red and black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins. Surprisingly strict and linear towards the finish, this slams down the shutters, so afford this plenty of bottle age.

(from a .35 ha parcel with vines in the terres blanches portion). Cool, pure and restrained aromas include those of both red and dark wild cherry, earth and pretty spice wisps, all of which is trimmed in very subtle wood influence. There is again both excellent intensity and mid-palate density to the equally broad-shouldered flavors that also possess a strikingly attractive texture while delivering superb length if not quite the same depth. Still, this is a first-rate example of the appellation and one that should amply repay extended keeping. (94-96)/2037+
