Tasting notes
The 2020 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Damodes 1er Cru has an attractive nose, red rather than black fruit, with hints of truffle and sous-bois . It is pretty complex compared to its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with a fresh entry. It has a fine grip and is structured, edgy and with commendable sapidity given the vintage. It may just lack a little length, but otherwise, this will drink well for 12 to 15 years. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2020 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Damodes 1er Cru includes 50% whole bunch. This has a welcoming bouquet with raspberry and crushed strawberry fruit, hints of pressed rose petals and coniferous trees. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit, fine grip, a little compact towards the finish, though it should flesh out in bottle. Quite poised and sustained.
