Tasting Notes
Richer and rounder than the Clos du Château, the 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Village offers up aromas of dark berries, spices, forest floor, orange rind and raw cocoa. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and concentrated, its deep core of vibrant fruit is framed by fine, powdery tannins. As usual, the communal Gevrey includes fruit from premiers crus Perrières and Etournelles Saint-Jacques.

The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Village has a little more intensity and lifted compared to the Clos du Château, a touch more mineralité too. The palate is very well balanced, quite juicy and ripe but over excessively. Dark berry fruit laced with spice and it fans out wonderfully on the finish. Lovely.
A bright glowing purple. Completely effortless, a wonderful sense of class, with fruit that continues gracefully through to the back of the palate. Entirely red, nothing indiscreetly ripe, this is certainly the finest village Gevrey I have tasted from barrel chez Rousseau.
