FINE+RARE, Oct 2021

From vines planted in 1975 just on the outskirts of the Puligny-Montrachet appellation, this is a benchmark Bourgogne Chardonnay from this top Puligny-based producer. And what a great introduction to the 2020 vintage this wine is. Paul Pernot excelled in the vintage, their richer style working brilliantly alongside the year’s pinpoint acidity and freshness. The Bourgogne Côte d’Or Chardonnay comes in at just 13% and is really classy, classic white Burgundy. It’s vibrant and refreshing, with a taut line of minerality. The mid-palate is fleshed out by white nectarine and crunchier white currant fruit, while notes of more delicate florals and the slightest hint of honey add complexity. It’s hard to resist.
