2020 Chassagne Montrachet Les Caillerets

Cailleret is consistently one of Chassagne-Montrachet’s finest Premiers Crus. Situated at the top of the Chassagne border, with its enviable position at an altitude of 350 metres, the vineyard’s barren, exposed limestone-rich soils have helped produce one of the raciest, mineral-driven Chardonnays in the Côte de Beaune. The Chassagne-Montrachet Cailleret from Jadot is a real success from the Maison. We loved it so much we bought the entire production – two barrels. The wine has a delectable nose, with aromas of lemongrass, grapefruit and freshly toasted hazelnuts. The palate brings in a subtle minerality and stony flavours, while retaining a superb nerve of acidity which drives the citrus fruit notes towards a rich and gourmand mid-palate. This is accentuated by lemon peel and elegant spices, and is extremely well balanced. The finish is long and persistent, with a brilliant purity and mineral density. This Chassagne-Montrachet comes highly recommended and offers a perfect picture of the esteemed Cailleret terroir. Excellent!
