Tasting notes
The Chalumaux vines are the domaine’s oldest, planted in 1954. The wines from this vineyard are a typically big and bold style of Puligny-Montrachet, working beautifully with the natural acidity so typical of 2020 white Burgundy. The vintage also counterpoints Pernot’s richer style and this is pushed to the maximum in this opulent, yet tensile, Chalumaux. Honeyed apple aromas interplay with chamomile floral notes and pineapple fruit. The texture is soft, silky, rounded and mouth-filling. While distinctly opulent, the wine has a fantastic line of acidity which brings great tension and length. A saline minerality on the finish lends additional complexity. The wine has great length and is a real standout in the Paul Pernot line-up in 2020.

Mostly from la Jacquelotte. One of the paler colours but with more floral character on the nose. Then finely chiselled afterwards in the mouth. This is a pretty wine which sadly got frosted out in 2021.
