Winemaker Jacques Borman. 100% Syrah. Hand-picked over three tries of ripeness. Spontaneous fermentation, 50% whole bunch in open-top fermenters, the rest in concrete tanks. One portion matured for 14 months in 40% new 400-litre French oak barrels. Ripe. Cherry blossom, cherry fruit, gentle warm spices. Cinnamon. Has heart. Really interesting nuttiness. Like praline! White pepper. Sweet bark. Moroccan leather, chai tea. I love this. Marches to the beat of its own drum. Tiny bit of milk chocolate, in the best way. The tannins nip in to the waist like a well-fitting wide belt. This has sass and class. (TC)
