Score 94/100 · Drink 2020-2027, Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate, Apr 2020

The single-vineyard red 2018 Manda Huevos Tinto Caña Andrea is mostly Garnacha with some 10% between Moristel, Bobal and Garnacha Blanca from a 0.8-hectare plot planted in 1908 on a gentle slope at 750 meters in altitude in the village of Villarroya de la Sierra plus a newer and slightly flatter 0.7-hectare adjacent plot planted in 1970. They used 20% full clusters for the fermentation in an open-top fermenter, and the élevage was in 875-liter Flextank eggs and lasted some 14 months. This has great purity and delineation, possibly the one with the finest nose, very Châteauneuf-du-Pape. There is balance and freshness without foregoing concentration, depth or power, with a very elegant palate, expressive, with fine tannins and very good freshness. This is the most elegant of the reds, and being completely unoaked, it shows the naked character of the place and the grape, with the added complexity of the other varieties. 3,223 bottles produced. It was bottled in February 2020.
