Tasting notes
Shining brightly! A real stellar example of what makes GG Riesling so vibrant and engaging. Proper fine wine: so layered and persistent, as well as aromatically complex. (RH)

The Niederhäuser 2020 Hermannshöhle Riesling GG opens with a pure and fascinating mix of melting or crushed slate and ripe, concentrated white fruits. Vital and fresh on the palate, this is a racy, piquant and tensioned, almost irritatingly nervous but terroir-driven Riesling with stimulating salinity and a crystalline, very pure and challenging structure. 13% alcohol. Tasted at the domain in July 2021.
Absolutely pure on the nose with cool minerality, the fragrance of local orchards and herbes de Provence. Crystal clear on the palate, where almost austere salty elements take the sensory centre stage, but still leave enough room for delicate nuances of stone fruit and herbal spice to express themselves. The greatest wines are clear right from the very beginning, because not only is there a super abundance of perfect ripeness, but everything fits so beautifully that youâre instantly captivated. Thatâs exactly the way this dry riesling masterpiece is. The most ravishing, peachy fruit and the most perfect balance. Then comes the totally compelling, salty finish that just doesnât want to stop. From organically grown grapes with Fair'n Green certification. Drink or hold.
