Tasting notes
The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Combe Aux Moines is also showing very well in bottle. Mingling aromas of cherries and plums with hints of sweet spices, peonies and wintergreen, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and enveloping, with a rich and fleshy core of fruit and a saline, perfumed finish.

(from .87 ha parcel planted in 1928). An admirably pure, cool, restrained and decidedly earthy red and dark currant-scented nose that reflects ample amounts of classic Gevrey character as well as a plentitude of floral nuances. The muscular broad-shouldered flavors possess superb delineation and outstanding punch on the youthfully austere, markedly firm and tension-filled finale. This too is terrific though patience advised as this will need time to resolve the prominent tannic spine. (92-95)/2034+
The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Combe Aux Moines opens in the glass with notes of rose petals, berries, cherries and warm spices. Medium to full-bodied, lively and vibrant, with good cut and concentration, it's built around powdery tannins that assert themselves on the gently grippy finish. This should age with grace. 92-94
