Tasting notes
Wafting from the glass with attractive aromas of red berries, plums, rose petals, orange rind and spices, the 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru La Perrière is medium to full-bodied, ample and perfumed, with lively acids, melting tannins and a long, saline finish. Supple and charming, it's showing beautifully in bottle.

The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin La Perrière 1er Cru has a perfumed, floral bouquet with iris and violet petals infusing the mainly black fruit, perhaps a touch more backward and opaque compared to the preceding "Mes Cinq Terroirs". The palate is medium-bodied with saturated tannins, the flesh of this La Perrière shading the backbone behind it. To quibble, it just needs a little more precision on the finish, but the weight of this La Perrière is impressive and augurs for long-term cellaring if you wish.
