The 2019 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru mingles aromas of sweet berries and plums with notions of rose petals, forest floor and warm spices. Full-bodied, ample and enveloping, it's deep and concentrated, with lively acids, melting tannins and a long, expansive finish. As usual, it's Arnaud Mortet's finest wine under his own label.

The 2019 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru has a very well defined, quite vivid bouquet with blueberry, loganberry, pitted black olive and light sea spray aromas. This is one of the best aromatics that I have encountered from this Grand Cru in 2019. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit. It is actually quite "Mazis" in style thanks to the structure, though it closes down a touch towards the almost surly finish. This is a "serious" Charmes-Chambertin from Arnaud Mortet that deserves several years in bottle.
