The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Les Petits Monts 1er Cru is very winsome on the nose. Irresistible red berry fruit, crushed rose petal and violet aromatics are supremely well-defined, with the oak just a guiding hand in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with a sensual opening—plush and luxuriant, but at the same time possessing ample backbone and a welcome dash of spice toward the finish. This is quite an intellectual wine, even if it needs a bit more finesse. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

About the producer
Domaine Georges Noëllat, based in the village of Vosne-Romanée is today run by Maxime Cheurlin. Cheurlin took over the domaine in 2010 – aged just 20 – and has since transformed its reputation as one of the finest Burgundy wine producers.
