Tasting notes
The 2020 Château du Glana has a vibrant, quite powerful bouquet of layers of blackberry, boysenberry and minty aromas, more floral (violet and rose petal) scents emerging with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit and fine acidity. Quite a stocky and structured du Glana with a lightly peppered finish. This has good potential.

Deep purple-black colored, the 2020 du Glana is scented of redcurrant jelly, black raspberries and Bing cherries, with hints of dried Provence herbs, wild mushrooms and damp soil. The medium-bodied palate has a firm frame of chewy, rugged tannins and just enough freshness to support the herb-laced black fruits, finishing a little rustic.
62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot. Undated cask sample. Aged for 12 months in barrel (40% new). Blackish purple. Heady, sweet, rather un-left-bank nose. Sweet – very sweet – and a bit of a lack of depth on the mid palate. Scrawny, uncomfortable, pinched, sudden finish. (JR)
