Tasting notes
This is bright with a really expressive fruit-forward nose, and a note that’s reminiscent of blackcurrant concentrate. This is super-ripe with a weight of plump plum and cherry fruit, yet there’s enough acidity to maintain balance. With glossy, ripe tannins, this is polished and plush.

Tasted blind. Deepest crimson. Dark, rich but fresh black fruit. Lots of freshness here and the tannins already very fine. Lovely freshness and depth. Long and harmonious. (JH)
The 2020 La Mondotte has another concentrated, ripe and opulent bouquet with lavish kirsch and blueberry scents. It's a bit ferrous in style but gains coherence and complexity in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a pliant entry, fine acidity and a savory finish. It's not amazingly complex, and it needs a bit more length. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.
90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc. Certified organic FR-BIO-10. Black almost to the narrow purplish rim. Less open than the 2019. Really dark and savoury, restrained but with underlying power. Savoury and deliciously dry on the finish. (JH)
