Tasting notes
The 2019 Riesling Saarburger Rausch Auslese A.P. #3 offers pear, mirabelle, papaya and Persian melon, in overripe as well as jellied form, on a nose that benefits considerably from offsetting suggestions of peach kernel and sea breeze. The palate impression is lusciously fruited, expansive and creamy, and the soothingly lingering finish happily reprises subtle piquancy and salinity while offering ample fresh fruit juiciness.

Mind-blowing concentration of exotic-fruit, dried-apricot and eucalyptus aromas on the powerful but super fresh palate with stunning brilliance at the very long finish. Limited production. Drink or hold.
The 2019 Rausch Auslese (Versteigerung) is intense and flinty yet still pretty reductive on the nose. Creamy and juicy on the palate this is a textured, fine and elegant Auslese with nice salinity but again a lack of brilliance and precision at this stage. Tasted in April 2020.
AP number 03 20. TA 6.6 g/l, RS 98 g/l. Still very pale. A little trace of spontaneous fermentation on the nose. Masses of ripe fruit but still very embryonic. A little bit of graininess of texture. Liquid acacia-honey flavour. At the moment it's a mixture of different unrelated elements but I'm sure it will all coalesce into something brilliant. Really edgy. (JR)
