Tasting notes
Brimming with spring blossoms, this is a succulent and vibrant Kabinett that is so easy to enjoy, but also subtle. Then at the finish it expands like a concertina to reveal a cornucopia of fresh fruit (from lemon to passion fruit) and herbs. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

From 80- to 100-year-old vines on blue slate terraces in the lower part of the cru, the 2019 Enkircher Ellergrub Riesling Kabinett shows pretty reductive and sufitic on the nose, which is intense and pure but doesn't show many attractive features so soon after the bottling. I strongly recommend giving the wine a lot of aeration or, much better, keeping it for a couple of years. The wine is sweet and intense on the palate yet light and pure, with remarkable inner substance, piquancy and salty terroir expression on the finish. Tight and serious but just too young to really enjoy it now. 9% alcohol. Tasted in May 2020.
AP number 07 20. TA 10 g/l, RS 47 g/l. Pretty stinky nose. Then sweet fruit. Very embryonic. Lots to chew on. Rather ungracious at the moment with disparate ingredients at this point. (JR)
