Thomas Haag's 2019 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese Goldkapsel is very intense yet clear on the highly refined and noble nose. Lush and generous on the textured and so juicy palate, this is another wine I am not able to spit out. The attack on the palate is so fine, fresh, elegant and so beautifully balanced that swallowing is the only option. The finish is stimulating, piquant and fresh, with very fine slate aromas and mouth-tickling grip. Tasted from AP 2420 in May 2020.

AP number 24 20. TA 8.2 g/l, RS 132 g/l. Extremely youthful. Light slatey nose then a solid array of fruits and honey on the palate, though it doesn’t seem at this stage to have quite the magic of the Juffer to me. Still at the light and fresh stage. (JR)
