Score 95/100 · Drink 2026-2050, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Oct 2020

The 2019 Bernkasteler Lay Auslese is clear and refined in its concentration and precision, revealing a deep and coolish flint aroma. Round and lush on the palate, with very delicate and refined acidity, this is a creamy-textured Auslese in the etherial Prüm style, with a piquant, vital and crunchy finish. Tasted at the domain in September 2020.

AP number 15 20. The first impression is of crystalline acidity. Then something quite mineral and massively lively in texture. Lots of quite open fruit – not heavy and very juicy indeed. So clean it's like a mouthwash. I could enjoy this already although I’m sure it will develop more subtle flavours. (JR)
