Tasting notes
The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Champs Gain has turned out very well, mingling aromas of pear, white flowers, toasted brioche, orange oil and anise. Medium to full-bodied, bright and chalky, it's intense and youthfully tightly wound. This is one of the most serious Champs Gains that Niellon has produced in recent years.

Picked on 8th September at 13.5% alcohol, with 30% new wood. Fresh pale colour. All about the grapes compared to La Maltroie, which is just next door. Concentrated, juicy fruit, real power, medium plus density and a lively finish though the warmth shows a bit more as the toast effect is less, but still in balance. Tasted Sep 2020.
