Tasting notes
The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Village is a blend of two vineyards that are vinified and aged separately. It has a tight, quite backward bouquet of brambly red fruit plus a touch of inkwell. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, a slightly chalky texture and a saline finish that just needs a little more length. Fine.

Two parcels: Aux Réas and Au-Dessus de la Rivière. Vinified (in concrete) and aged separately for blending at bottling. No whole bunch. Barrel sample. Has the sweetness of Vosne compared with the Gevrey but deep in fruit too. Then pretty dry on the palate and quite hard work at the moment. The tannins are fine-grained but there’s not much flesh in the middle. Slightly severe, for now at least. Very chewy finish. (JH)
