2016 Amarone della Valpolicella

Enticing nose of pruney fruit and spicy biscuits. Full-bodied with juicy, fluid and mouth-filling fruit. Polished, spicy tannins kick in midway and give a light chew to the finish. But the fruit is still there in full force at the end, even leaving an aftertaste of clean blackcurrants and fresh licorice. This unfiltered Amarone is a bit of a wild thing at the moment, but so attractive and really hard not to drink now. Best to resist until at least 2023.
