The 2019 Meursault Les Vireuils has a lively bouquet of grilled walnuts, smoke and gunflint aromas that soar from the glass. The palate is well balanced with quite a rich and honeyed entry. Weighty and assertive in the mouth, it delivers a tangy marmalade finish. Maybe a little "obvious" compared to some crus, but certainly well crafted and full of flavor.
Late picked, 8–10 days after the village wine. Barrel sample. Creamy nose. A mix of minerality and richness. Rather an elegant, savoury halfway house between old and new idioms of Meursault. (JR)
