Score 91-93/100 · Drink 2022-2035, Neal Martin, Dec 2020
The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet Clos Saint-Jean 1er Cru is the largest cuvée from 0.5 hectares of 60-year-old vines on red ferrous clayey soils. It has a well defined bouquet with white flowers and touches of nectarine, lemon verbena emerging with aeration. The palate is well balanced, richer than the other Premier Crus, hints of hazelnut and almond towards the finish with ginger lingering on the aftertaste. This has good potential.
