Tasting notes
Good bright medium ruby. Cassis, licorice, minerals and cedar on the slightly inky nose. Sweet, lush and forward, with a distinctly exotic quality to its dark berry and spicecake flavors. This round, pliant wine is all about mouthcoating fruit. Finishes with serious but nicely ripe tannins and very good length.

This consistently high quality estate’s 2006 exhibits aromas of cedar, black currants, black cherries, loamy soil, and background toasty oak. Medium-bodied and richly fruity with sweet tannin, it should drink well for 5-6 years. Good value.
Scented, sweet, a bit oaky and very slightly reminiscent of vintage port in terms of how embryonic it is. Drying finish. (JR)
Good bright, dark red. Fresh aromas of plum, smoke, flint and minerals. Soft in the middle but with good vinosity to the flavors of red plum and redcurrant. Can't match the 2005 for fleshiness or the '07 for purity of fruit, but this has good structure for development in bottle. Von Neipperg declassified the young vines in this wetter harvest, making this wine almost entirely from vines planted in 1953 and the early 1960s.
