The 2019 Meursault Genevrières 1er Cru has quite a strong struck match element on the nose, though it seems to dissipate with continued aeration. The palate is well balanced, though I do find the reduction impeding onto the fruit profile so that it articulates more the winemaking technique than the terroir. There’s a good Meursault here, but it is occluded by the winemaking practices at the moment.

The 2019 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières has turned out nicely, mingling scents of honeyed pears, mandarin orange, paraffin wax, smoke and toasted nuts in an inviting bouquet. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and chiseled, it's bright and chalky, with a long, penetrating finish.
Cask sample. Not especially expressive at present on the nose but there is some sweetness and acidity on the palate that are not yet married. It's still distinctly unformed and a bit of a muddle but may well get there in the end. Sourness on the finish. (JR)
About the producer
Based in Meursault and farming some of the finest vineyards in the Côte de Beaune, Henri Boillot is a leading address in Burgundy. He crafts fine Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, but the estate is best known for its flagship monopole vineyard, Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru Clos de la Mouchère.
