Tasting notes
Opaque ruby. Powerful, oak-spiced cherry and dark berry qualities on the nose and palate. In a fleshy, generous style; a hint of cracked pepper adds back-end spiciness. Finishes long and smoky, with lingering cassis and vanilla notes and supple tannins that lend gentle grip.

100% Tempranillo. Vineyards planted at 600 m above sea level in Elvillar and Lanciego. Old bush vines, some centenarian. Sustainable viticulture. Each plot fermented and aged separately. Vats designed to eliminate the contribution of the seeds. Aged in new French oak barrels for 16 months. 3,828 bottles. Tasted blind. A very good and complete wine. It has spices, cocoa, herbs and very sweet fruits on the nose. Round, ripe and sweet palate. Good balance and well crafted. High in tannins and powerful but well integrated. At a good place in its evolution for current drinking. A flavourful wine that retains elegance. (FC)
New modern bodega supplied by an old mountain-vineyard in Rioja Alavesa. Healthy crimson. Quite rich and savoury on the nose. But could do with a bit more freshness and transparency on the palate. Over extracted? (JR)
