Tasting notes
This is racy, taut and intense, with cherry, black currant and blueberry flavors fused to a severe structure. Shows mineral and black pepper details as this rides out the refreshing finish. Give this some time. Best from 2022 through 2045. 5,000 cases made.

The 2015 Chianti Classico Riserva Berardo is a pretty, open-knit wine. Sweet dark cherry, plum, lavender, spice and menthol are nicely delineated in the 2015, a Riserva that is unusually translucent for the vintage. This is an especially refreshing, mid-weight wine for the year, with a good deal of savory and earthy Sangiovese character laced throughout.
The 2015 Chianti Classico Riserva Berardo exhibits a soft and delicate personality that is slightly atypical for this warm and sunny vintage and for the Castelnuovo Berardenga subzone that is known for more robust interpretations. Instead, this wine exhibits fine silkiness with aromas of wild berry, spice, crushed stone and even a touch of grilled herb or green olive. There is a drying note on the bouquet that recalls the crushed rocks and limestone clay soils of Chianti Classico. Some 60,000 bottles were made. You get great value here.
The floral aromas are so enticing with rose petals and lavender, which follow through to a full body with beautiful density of fruit. A long and complete finish. The best Chianti Classico ever made here in living memory. Even better than the 1961. Drink or hold.
