The 2018 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts is lovely, wafting from the glass with a deep-pitched bouquet of plums, dark chocolate, cassis, orange rind and espresso roast. Medium to full-bodied, layered and muscular, it's rich and concentrated, with powdery tannins and lively acids. This will demand patience, but it's very promising.
The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Les Beaux Monts 1er Cru is matured entirely in new oak and is completely de-stemmed. The wood is dominating the nose at the moment, although there is sufficient fruit underneath to soak it up with time. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, plenty of plush blueberry fruit and a sweet, almost candied finish that lingers in the mouth. Superb.
