Tasting notes
The 2018 Bourgogne d'Or is a very pretty, entry-level wine in this range. Bright floral and citrus flavors, along with soft contours, make the Bourgogne d'Or an excellent choice for drinking now and over the next few years. This is an especially airy, chiseled style.

Bottled. All bought-in fruit from outside Chablis, eg Auxerrois. Samuel Billaud first made this cuvée in 2016 when the crop was so small. Fresh and lemony with melon-fruit ripeness, even a hint of mandarin and just-ripe apricot, plus a light dustiness on the nose which becomes a creamy texture on the palate. Rounded and fresh on the finish but not particularly long. (JH)
About the producer

Samuel Billaud started making wine under his own name in 2009, but he is one of the most experienced producers in Chablis, having made wine in the region since 1985.
