The 2019 Röttgen GG is deep, refined and flinty on the precise nose that opens to perfectly ripe yet precise, elegant, tropical and flinty-scented Riesling fruit. Dense and piquant on the palate, this is a concentrated yet juicy, mineral, vital and nervy Röttgen with remarkable purity and freshness and a mouthwatering mineral finish with good grip and tension. Tasted from the bottle in October 2020.

AP number 16 20. Pretty obvious spontaneous fermentation on the nose. Lots of impact and intensity but very distinctively metallic on the end. I feel the fruit is rather smothered by winemaking dogma here. Very chewy and rather hot on the end. Not one of my favourites. A little sour. (JR)
