Tasting notes
The 2019 Uhlen Laubach GG is deep, pure and intense on the excitingly pure, fresh yet complex and elegant nose. On the palate, this is a mouth-filling yet crystalline and silky-textured Laubach of great class and style. The 2019 combines power with purity, finesse and mineral freshness, then leads to a long, complex and structured finish that indicates great aging potential. Impressive even at this early, still (positively) phenolic stage, refreshing with its juniper and clove associations. Tasted from the bottle in October 2020.

Although this is a dry Riesling from the Mosel, it has a very Burgundian personality with stunning textural complexity and a waxy quality to the nose that’s quite unlike anything else from this region. Huge power and depth yet restrained right through the imposing finish. Gloriously untypical! From organically grown grapes with Fair’n Green certification. Drink or hold.
AP number 18 20. Some pale gold. In this wine the fruit is doing its best to fight through the yeast and fermentation aromas. Bone-dry finish after a slightly candy overlay. I'd like to see pure acidity and clarity of fruit more in evidence. Slightly sour finish. Tastes as one imagines a firework tincture might. (JR)
