Beautifully done, the 2018 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast has an incredible sense of purity and finesse while packing plenty of classic California fruit. Vivid ruby-hued with a kaleidoscopic array of framboise, spring flowers, charcoal, toasted spices, and damp earth, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, incredible purity of fruit, integrated acidity, and a great finish. This quintessential Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is already drinking brilliantly yet will keep for at least 7-8 years.

The 2018 Pinot Noir CIX Vineyard is rich and heady. Blueberry, chocolate, espresso and copious new oak (60%) add to a feeling of real density and resonance. Here, too, the tannins are pretty imposing in the early going. This is an especially dark, brooding Pinot. It will be interesting to see if the 2018 finds a bit more finesse with time in bottle. A chewy and structured red with blackberry, dried-strawberry and pine-needle aromas and flavors. Tea leaf. Full and flavorful, yet intense and firm. Tight and reserved.

The 2018 Aubert Pinot Noirs were bottled at the beginning of July 2019. Medium to deep ruby-purple colored, the 2018 Pinot Noir UV Vineyard rolls out of the glass with intense notes of Morello cherries, rhubarb, raspberry pie, bouquet garni and lilacs with suggestions of Marmite toast, fungi, fragrant soil and forest floor. Full-bodied, the palate is packed with crunchy red berries plus loads of earthy accents, framed by firm, grainy tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long with a wonderfully spicy kick. Delicious now, this should age incredibly well, generously rewarding those with enough patience to defer their gratification.
