Tasting notes
The 2012 Gevrey-Chambertin Aux Combottes shows the pure power and intensity of the year in spades. Dark red stone fruits meld into expressive floral notes, but it is really the wine's energy, depth and textural finesse that stand out most. Readers can look forward to several decades of exceptional drinking.

Bright red. Lovely floral lift to the aromas of red cherry and minerals. Savory red fruit and soil flavors show excellent depth and tangy complexity. Finishes with noteworthy length. Very stylish.
(vinified with 80% whole clusters): Good deep red. Musky, complex aromas of dark raspberry, smoke and minerals. Silky but tightly wound, with tangy red fruit flavors complicated by an iron quality. Very fine-grained wine with a firm, persistent finish.
