FINE+RARE Tasting Note

Strong cabernet aromas, focused nose, slight green herbaceous tone. Very elegant tannins and wonderful fruit weight underneath. Medium bodied, moderately structured wine. Juicy open knit. Lacks a little tensile energy you come to expect from Lafite stable. However the tannins are beautifully refined, deceptively underpinning the wine and giving breadth and freshness on the palate. Very elegant.

The 2019 Duhart-Milon has a straightforward nose with touches of oxtail infusing the red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, quite grippy tannins, nicely balanced with a pleasing off-dry, tobacco-infused finish. I feel that this bottle is not the freshest that I have encountered and so will defer scoring it. Tasted blind at the Southwold annual tasting.

Tasted blind. Shaded rim. Juicy and lively and fresh, at last! Integrity and inkiness, but not unbalanced and with good length. (JR)

The 2019 Château Duhart-Milon is another incredibly successful wine in the vintage. Offering up-front currant and cassis fruits, it's medium to full-bodied and has complex cedar and spicy nuances, ripe tannins, and a round, layered, balanced mouthfeel. It's slightly less sunny and opulent than the 2018 but still brings plenty of beautiful, sunny fruit.
