The 2018 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has the more complex bouquet of Mugneret’s 2018s, featuring fragrant red berries mixed with dried blood, undergrowth and wilted rose petal, a touch of orange peel emerging with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, very intense black fruit and a little more depth and grip than the Ruchottes at the moment. There is real density to this Clos Vougeot that make it the best from the domaine this year.

On the palate, it's full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, with a layered and concentrated core, strikingly refined tannins, lively acids and a long, resonant finish. This is always a Clos Vougeot that nods to nearby Musigny, and that has never been truer than in the 2018 vintage.
