Quite a deep crimson. Pure and fresh. Welcome acidity and structure after all the 2015s and 2016s I have just been tasting! Rather meaty. Still quite angular but promising. Long. (JR)

Big and a bit stewed on the nose. Chewy and not very subtle – a bit coarse in fact. (JR)

The 2014 Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes works much better on the nose than the Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes. Here, there is more clarity and delineation, fresher and more Pinoté. The palate is medium-bodied with fine salinity on the entry, an edginess here than the Gevrey lacked, just a touch of spice on the finish elongating the finish. Enjoy this over the next 6-10 years.
