Tasting notes
The wine is wonderfully pure and precise in 2019 and illustrates the exceptional talent at this exciting new estate in the Côte de Beaune. Alvina’s 2019 Meursault 1er Cru La Pièce sous le Bois has a delicate tight nose of white flowers, ripe lemons and green apples with a hint of reduction that dissipates with aeration. On the palate, the wine is more expressive with ripe pears, fresh almonds, key-lime peel and a clean, pure minerality. The flavour profile is ripe but the acidity builds up on the palate retaining a very pleasurable balance with the richness and density of fruits developing into a precise and elegant iodine-driven finish. The length is impressive, this should be approachable young and age beautifully for 10 years +. Just 3 barrels made.

There are four barrels of the 2019 Meursault 1er Cru La Pièce sous le Bois, a bright and lively wine that reveals inviting aromas of pear, white flowers, peach and blanched almonds. Medium to full-bodied, pure and incisive, with an elegant, understated profile and good tension at the core, it reflects its higher-altitude origins.
