Tasting notes
With fruit from the village that lends its name to the appellation, the Roagna 2015 Barbaresco Montefico Vecchie Viti is a tiny production of just 1,248 bottles from precious vines that are more than 90 years old. Montefico shows extra-fine textural tightness with a taut, silky nature. That streamlined feel is the ultimate sounding board for dried berry, violet and crushed rock aromas.

The 2015 Barbaresco Montefico Vecchie Viti is a great example of this site. Iron, smoke, crushed rocks, sage, mint and licorice bring out the wilder, savory side of this Barbaresco vineyard. Firm and muscular in the glass, with striking depth, the 2015 has so much to offer. It does need at least a few years in bottle to be at its best.
About the producer

Roagna is one of Italy’s finest estates, producing top, single-vineyard Nebbiolos in Barbaresco and Barolo. The estate’s Crichët Pajé Barbaresco is one of the rarest fine wine cuvées in Piedmont with fewer than 2,000 bottles produced each year.
