Representing a tiny production of only 1,236 bottles, the Roagna 2015 Barbaresco Asili Vecchie Viti is another beauty that absolutely plays its best cards in terms of mouthfeel. The wine is polished like a fine gem, and it offers dried cassis, wild berry, crushed flower and white mineral. That mineral dryness links into the silky nature of the tannins. This wine has only just started what promises to be an amazing journey.

The 2015 Barbaresco Asili Vecchie Viti lifts from the glass with striking aromatics. Then again, that's Asili. Sweet red berry fruit, mint, blood orange, cinnamon and star anise form a gorgeous latticework of aromas and flavors. The 2015 is gracious, light on its feet and full of Asili seduction, but with that extra kick if tannic bite that is such a Roagna signature. It will be even better once those tannins soften a bit further.

Roagna is one of Italy’s finest estates, producing top, single-vineyard Nebbiolos in Barbaresco and Barolo. The estate’s Crichët Pajé Barbaresco is one of the rarest fine wine cuvées in Piedmont with fewer than 2,000 bottles produced each year.
