Tasting notes
The 2018 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has a tightly-wound, yet well-delineated, quite classy nose that displays more mineralité than its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, quite firm tannins that frame dark berry fruit laced with white pepper and sage. Grippy, a more statuesque Clos de Vougeot that should mature well in bottle. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.

Fifteen out of the 19 barrels (a lot!) were new. This was their most potent wine in 2018. Cask sample. The deepest colour of the lot. Really very jolly and sweet now. Admirably long. But with polish too now. Not too much oak. Bravo! (JR)
The 2018 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has a gorgeous bouquet of dark cherry fruit, black currant, crushed stone and light iodine aromas, very pure and seductive. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and good acidity, the whole cluster (70%) lending a touch of pepperiness toward a finish that is precise and persistent. Superb.
