Tasting notes
A gently toasty nose reflects markedly ripe but fresh aromas of black raspberry, plum, warm earth and plenty of floral top notes. There is excellent vibrancy to the sleek, velvety and concentrated flavors that coat the palate with copious amounts of dry extract that enrobes the very firmly structured and hugely long and slightly chewy finish. This robust yet classy effort is first-rate though again, patience absolutely necessary as this should repay several decades of cellaring.

The 2018 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru Hommage à Jean Morin is showing beautifully, mingling aromas of smoky berry fruit, cherries and plums with notions of dark chocolate, rich soil tones and spices. Full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, it's rich and muscular, with real concentration and structure, underpinned by lively acids and concluding with a long, sapid finish. Of the Château de la Tour's three cuvées, it's this one that possesses the most incipient savory complexity, but it will also demand the most patience.
