Tasting notes
The 2018 Nuits Saint-Georges La Charmotte has a perfumed nose of brambly red fruit, damp loam and woodland aromas; lots of character here. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannins, quite saline and marine-influenced. The linear, strict finish will require 3–4 years to soften.

Solid and savoury with lots of life bubbling below the surface. Fun and unusual – the opposite of formulaic. You do feel as though a microscope would reveal a heck of lot going on in this wine. I’d happily buy six but perhaps not 12. Drying finish currently. (JR)
The 2018 Nuits Saint-Georges La Charmotte has a charming bouquet of light red cherries, raspberry and orange zest, really approachable and yet nuanced. The medium-bodied palate offers grainy tannins and feels fresh and sapid, the whole bunch (40%) nicely integrated. A dash of black pepper appears on the finish. Very fine.
