Tasting notes
The 2018 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru is already beautifully expressive, soaring from the glass with scents of raspberries, cherries, red berries and plums mingled with rose petals, peonies, cinnamon and sweet soil tones. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, rich and concentrated, its muscular chassis of powdery tannin cloaked in lively fruit. This is very promising.

90% whole bunch. Barrel sample. Peppery dark-red fruit, the sample is a bit cold so it is rather closed on the nose. But there is still an attractive spiced sweetness of fruit. Fragrant, dry, determined, chewy but not aggressive. Bone dry and chalky on the finish. All in balance but not seductive now. (JH)
